After Virtue but Before Friday
Hello boys, girls, ladies and gentlemen; persons and poultry; sundry and assorted apes of all types, shapes, sizes; and yes, hello to you there, the dodecahedron in the corner sipping the Mai Tai. It's time for the Friday edition (posted a day early) of, "Those who love wisdom, and the women who love them", and oh, boy, do we not have a doozy, a dozy or even a dozer for you today.
O.K., my comedist quota aside, this is a post in the tradition of, "Bullshit or Not?", where I post a little quotation for you, and you tell me in as few or as many words as you like, whether you believe it is bullshit or not. Feel free to explain, complain, even restrain (though that's not recommended), but please, do not be (overly) profane.
From Alasdair MacIntyre, and his book After Virtue (I bet you didn't see that one coming):
"Every action is the bearer and expression of more or less theory-laden beliefs and concepts; every piece of theorizing and every expression of belief is a political and moral action."
I've been running up against this very idea again and again. I think we ought not get bogged down in the word "action" here, since it seems obvious the sort of action being discussed.
